The "Through Victoria Swim", also known as "The Three Mile", ran from The Inner Harbour quay in front of the Empress, to the Gorge Bridge. It started in 1910 and was one of Victoria's biggest sporting events. Open to all-comers, it was won nine times by local swimmer Audrey Griffin from 1915-1923.
